Field Day T-Shirt Order Form

Due by Friday, March 27th

Sun City is SO proud of this year's DI (Destination Imagination) teams. They performed so well and represented Sun City exquisitely. The awards achieved are listed below.

Rising Star Non-Competitive Teams (K-2nd) -- Special Recognition

Competitive Teams (3rd Grade):

Structure Team - 2nd Place

Fine Arts Team - 2nd Place and qualified to go to DI Globals

Technical Team - 1st Place and qualified to go to DI Globals

3rd Grader, Gage. H, was awarded the special Da Vinci award that is not normally given to an elementary student.

DI Global Finals will be in Knoxville, Tennessee in May to compete against other US and even international teams. Mr. Kirkland promised his team's students if they qualified for finals he would shave his head. He followed through on his promise at an assembly at school. Way to go, Sun City Teams!

Thank you for supporting The American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart. Sun City raised $2,481 to help fight heart disease! Congratulations to Zoe B. for being the top fund raiser.

Aeron Barcelona 1-26.jpg

Aeron, a 9-year old 3rd grader at Sun City Elementary School, attended the FC Barcelona Soccer Camp in Fort Lauderdale, FL in July of last year.  These camps are run by FC Barcelona, one of the largest club soccer academies. Sessions in the U.S. were held in Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, and Kansas.

Two players per FCB Camp week were selected by FC Barcelona Coaches from all the FCB summer camps to participate in the 2015 FC Barcelona Escola International Tournament in Barcelona, Spain (March 27th thru April 3rd).  Teams from U.S., Dubai, Japan, Korea, Egypt, Poland, India, and Spain will spend 4 days playing soccer and enjoying Barcelona.

Aeron was one of 48  players selected from a pool of 3400 campers (overall) to represent the  8-10 year old USA Team.   There is a promo-video and more at the following link:

Aeron has played soccer since he was four years old.  He is currently a member of the CABOSA Shreveport United U11 Competitive Team coached by Mark Matlock. Aeron is the son of Cassius and Tracey Burrell.
